In case of convergence with European standards, the value of the sector could reach \u20ac12.5bn, representing 5.5% of GDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contribution to the Economy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the new Deloitte study, presented at the&nbsp;<em>Digital Economy Forum 2024<\/em>, the ICT sector is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Greek economy, with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Annual turnover of \u20ac13.8 billion.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>More than 300,000 workers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The digitisation of public administration through the&nbsp;<em>gov.gr<\/em>&nbsp;and the CDC has yielded&nbsp;<strong>\u20ac3 billion.<\/strong>&nbsp;benefits in five years, while reducing tax evasion by&nbsp;<strong>\u20ac2.5 billion.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technological priorities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The survey of 200 industry executives highlighted the top priorities for the next three years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Artificial Intelligence (30%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cyber security (18%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cloud (13%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Big Data (10%)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Internet of Things (6%)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the greatest needs for digital transformation are identified in the health (20%), energy (15%) and financial services (11%) sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges and opportunities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite its potential, the industry faces significant obstacles, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of skilled talent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need to improve digital infrastructure, which only the\u00a0<strong>2% of strains<\/strong>\u00a0considers sufficient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regulatory difficulties that limit innovation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the majority of executives appear optimistic, with the&nbsp;<strong>53%<\/strong>&nbsp;to declare itself \u201ccautiously optimistic\u201d and the&nbsp;<strong>27%<\/strong>&nbsp;see significant growth opportunities through emerging technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposals for the Future<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study concludes with four strategic axes that can strengthen the industry:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Internationalisation<\/strong>: Export development and creation of international data centres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investing in Innovation<\/strong>: Developing solutions in areas such as cybersecurity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Human Resources<\/strong>: Strengthening postgraduate programmes and attracting talent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital
